This is a great family vacation area as it is on the same bridged island as Bar Harbor, and has the second most visited National Park, Acadia. My home is in a lovely, popular village with one of the best harbors in the country - a real sailing capital. Water sports, hiking and biking on numerous island mountains with fantastic views! The home is located 5 houses up from Somes Sound, the only natural fjord in the continental U. S. , and 5 minutes to the harbor, where mail boat ferry service can take you to 3 of the five Cranberry Islands, in minutes. Island Explorer bus can take you anywhere on the Island for free and pick you up right in the village. The home is a period home, built in the 1880's, with tasteful antique furnishings. It has been in the family for 5 generations! It is furnished in cozy, comfy, cottage style and casually for families with pets, parking for 3 cars, level and lighted area. Town sidewalks. In-town but the feeling is rural and quaint. Great shops in the villages within walking distance. All three bedrms. Equipped with comfortable mattresses and a queen, double and single set up with a youth bed in the queen bedrm. Fit for a little prince or princess with canopy and white wicker child's rocker. Gardener to care for property and I put a 50ft. Veggie garden in for your eating pleasure! All amenities are available, however, in the quaint little village, within walking distance. Harbor buzzing with summertime activity, also a few minutes walk away. Private backyard with lg. Wooden picnic table and rd. Umbrella table and chairs, and bistro chairs around, relax behind privacy evergreen hedges. Love seat on front porch. Town sidewalks but definitely rural feeling in this charming and quaint village. Island living at it's best! |
