Immersed in the green of the Tuscan countryside, a stone's throw from Umbria, an eighteenth century mill has been restored preserving, through the exclusive use of traditional materials and construction methods, its original charming character. Perfectly in tune with nature, the Mulino delle Capannacce is a haven of calm and comfort; a corner of paradise, situated at the foot of the castle of Pierle, surrounded by an endless panorama of woods, olive-groves, vineyards, ancient ruins of medieval castles and Romanesque churches. Nature, landscape, culture, art and good food, are all offered by the Mulino delle Capannacce and the Trattoria Mimmi, our own traditional restaurant.
In Mercatale di Cortona, 800 metres from the Mulino delle Capannacce, Trattoria Mimmi has an intimate family atmosphere which characterizes this small but comfortable restaurant, where you can still sample traditional recipes and where the simplicity and genuineness of the fruits of the country and the woods form an integral part of the traditions of Tuscan and Umbrian culinary art. Home made pasta, meat roasted in a wood fired oven, the sweets and puddings like grandmother made and the simple and savoury dishes of the farmhouse kitchen, are all accompanied by good wines.
The properties are an ideal base for sightseeing trips to the famous walled medieval cities of Florence, Siena, Perugia, and Assisi as well as the smaller but equally beautiful towns of Citta di Castello, Cortona, Deruta, Gubbio, Montepulciano, Orvieto, Spoleto, Todi and Urbino among others. These towns are steeped in history and offer a wealth of art, architecture and ceramics as well as many restaurants where you can relax and enjoy the culinary specialities of the area. |
