Nevada Vacation Rentals – Nevada Travel Nevada affords the visitor a wide variety of activity. In one day, you can hike, bike, camp and gamble. Not many other vacation destinations offer this mix of activities. The array of possible state destinations include Angel Lake, Pahrump Valley Winery and the famous Kit Carson Trail in Carson City. Las Vegas The most traveled-to area of the state offers more gaming than a visitor might think possible. Here, casinos line the streets, with areas defined as being "on strip" or "off strip". If you don't gamble, there are plenty of entertainment options with the highlights including concerts by big-name artists and thrill rides. There's an IMAX Ridefilm Theater, and Star Trek: The Experience. The Lake Mead area is just outside Vegas and offers outdoor activities on its 500 miles of shoreline. A wild-west theme park outside of Primm offers activities for families. Reno-Tahoe area With a variety of entertainment, nightlife and outdoors activities available, this area is well traveled. Reno, famous for high-quality hotel resorts, golf, an active nightlife and gambling. Lake Tahoe, the second-deepest late in the United States, is the centerpiece of the Lake Tahoe region, which offers year-round activities ranging from hiking, biking, camping and water sports. This is also a busy ski region with a number of ski resorts also offering snowmobiling and tubing. Virginia City offers a true boomtown feel with interesting history mixed in. Pony Express Territory The historic town of Eureka has a number of historic buildings from the 19th Century, including the Eureka Sentinel Museum, which displays vintage press equipment that was used for newspaper publishing. The Eureka Courthouse is also located here. In Ely, take in the Nevada Northern Railroad Museum, which revisits a mining company line that existed for most of the 20th Century, or a mural program that decorates -- via the town's residents -- the downtown buildings with images of the town's past. Pioneer Territory Quiet splendor mixed with interesting history marks this area of Nevada. Nevada's own version of an extraterrestrial highway is found on desolate Route 375 and UFO hunters gather in the town of Rachel. In the tiny town of Gabbs, there is the Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park, which includes an archaeological site with fossils from ichthyosaurs. Cathedral George State Park near Panaca is defined clay spires and columns, and camping and picnicking are popular pastimes here. Other interesting finds in this vast territory include former mining towns and mountain ranges not commonly visited. Cowboy Country This area -- known for its western farmlands and valleys surrounded by mountains -- is dominated by a rural way of life, with cattle-crossings more prevalent than stoplights. The village of Lamoille runs a heli-skiing operation, one of few in the United States, while Jackpot is a resort and gaming town on the border of Nevada and Idaho where the streets are all named after various games. Elko attracts visitors to the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering annually in January and the National Basque Festival, which celebrates Basque-American culture. Indian Territory Indian history can be found throughout the Indian territories of Nevada, where visitors can see carvings of petroglyph's made long ago by Native Americans. In Pyramid Reservation, is a desert sea -- known as Pyramid Lake -- which remains from prehistoric times. Near Mount Charleston, there are three championship-level golf courses operated at the Southern Paiute-run Las Vegas Paiute Resort. The Nevada outdoors With all that Nevada has to offer, outdoor activities lead the list. You can sand board in the sand dunes at Armagosa Valley and Sand Mountain. You can off-road in any of the many open spaces or bungee jump, sky dive or para sail and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
